For over 30 years lacrosse was dominated by a few main industry players; whether it was the long-standing traditional equipment manufacturers or the few brand-name retail outlets that carried their products. Well those days are gone. Over the last several years the lacrosse industry has seen an explosion of new companies making and selling products and services. We are also seeing established non-lacrosse companies jump into the mix. This blog will focus on what each new lacrosse company (also known as Lax Company 2.0) brings to the table. We’ll cut through the marketing ploys and profile these new and exciting companies from a different angle.
Our first spotlight is on Adrenaline Lacrosse based out of sunny San Diego, CA. Adrenaline was started in 2000 by Alex Cade (Notre Dame, LA Riptide) and has blossomed into a successful lacrosse apparel company for both men and women and a leader on the West Coast in spreading the game of lacrosse through a variety of camps and clinics for boys and girls at all levels.
Besides providing some great threads designed by Parker Anger, Lax Spot found what's most impressive about Adrenaline is their additional role in promoting the game of lacrosse, especially on the West Coast. Adrenaline offers camps just about all year round in countless locations.
Adrenaline has created a 'Player Development Model' approach to its camps. It has been a proven success thus far as many of the Adrenaline camp and clinic alumni are now seeing success in the NCAA playing ranks. By having different camps with different status, it really puts the kids at ease and allows everyone to be on the same level. As they move up in skills, they graduate to the next level of camp where new skills and aspects of the game are introduced.
Along with spreading the game, Adrenaline is known for its cutting edge designs with a laid back SoCal hang-ten attitude. Designs are created by surfers, lacrosse players and some hybrid surfer/lacrosse folks as well. Adrenaline brings out the surfer in each and every lacrosse player. And believe it or not, there's a little in everyone. Adrenaline is also going green as they plan to release their eco friendly line very shortly.
Adrenaline wants to take the conservativeness out of lacrosse clothing and they surely have done just that with this year’s new line. The company currently runs three stores in Southern California and one in Austin Texas, which all are the first of there kind in the respective areas. (2 San Diego/1 Orange County/1 Austin). Also with nationwide/international sales and marketing led by Anger and Justin Smith (Salisbury, PHI Barrage), Adrenaline is looks like it's going to be in the game for the long haul.
