News, updates, stories, and other oddities from the LaxSpot.com staff.
E-Lacrosse, the original online lacrosse magazine has now added social networking to its already popular lacrosse web offerings. With the acquisition of LaxSpot.com, E-Lacrosse has made a move to upgrade its position within the lacrosse media world by incorporating social networking. This step will allow its readers to personalize their E-Lacrosse experience, create new content and to help the sport thrive.
E-Lacrosse began in 1997 and quickly built a large and loyal lacrosse readership, while garnering critical acclaim from the Washington Post, Baltimore Sun and USA Today. After ten years, that readership is over 580,000 in 2008. Readers from over 30 countries have downloaded over 2.5 million video clips from E-Lacrosse since 2005. There are approximately 39,000 pages within the current and archive versions of E-Lacrosse.
LaxSpot.com like E-Lacrosse was a pioneer by becoming the sports first successful solely Web 2.0 initiative. With the slogan "Powered by the Lacrosse Community", LaxSpot.com will help move E-Lacrosse to the next level.
Launched in early 2008, LaxSpot.com quickly grew to over 1,000 users and has continued the widely used Internet trend of user contributed content. By allowing registered members to create personal profiles, write blogs, chat on forums, upload videos or pictures and other great tools that have not existed in the lacrosse arena prior to its launch, LaxSpot.com has created a niche that can only be replicated, but never replaced.
In 2009, E-Lacrosse has plans to redesign its massive site while seamlessly incorporating the functionality of LaxSpot.com into the user experience. "E-Lacrosse's LaxSpot" will be a place for existing E-Lacrosse readers and new lacrosse enthusiasts to register and become part of the community that will help bring the sport of lacrosse to the next level all over the world.
Stay tuned for more updates regarding the new site design!
